Calibri

Calibri is a humanist sans-serif typeface family under the Microsoft ClearType Font Collection.

In Microsoft Office 2007, it replaced Times New Roman as the default typeface in Word and replaced Arial as the default in PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

Calibri was designed by Lucas de Groot for Microsoft to take advantage of Microsoft’s ClearType rendering technology.

Tumblr : Tumbles

I think this blog is finally propagated so that the domain will redirect properly every time. What does that actually mean? Jonhaber.ca actually takes you to my blog and not an error page.

My experience with Tumblr so far has been difficult. Getting a nice theme to work properly took a fair bit of work. The first theme I tried using had errors when viewing it in IE. The one I am using now took a long time to customize to my liking.

Most troubling is the lack of commenting ability by default in tumblr. I had to use a third party application to be able to make my blog posts comment-able. It is pretty crazy that they wouldn’t include this functionality in tumblr. How hard can it really be? I guess they expect people to use tumblr to just post things without feed back from readers but I believe a blog without the ability to allow for some basic conversation / feedback from users is pretty poor.

The back end of tumblr is pretty. The themes themselves are nice looking. It seems like more time went into the polish of this service than thought into functionality. Maybe I am missing something but I don’t see why they wouldn’t have a better back end for editing themes, a backend that works properly in firefox, and default comment functionality.

Regardless, everything now works and I think for the while being I am done with the tech side of this blog and I will focus on content. Please updated your RSS feeds to point to this new site. Also, check out my progress bar / countdown at the bottom of my site. The progress bar might be a little confusing but for now I am gonna leave it as is. Enjoy the new blog.
