Netbooks, silence, and other things of little importance…

I took a netbook that was lent to me and decided to turn it into a digital picture frame / weather forecast guide / clock / and calender and put it right next to my apartment door.

Basically, I gathered about 700 megs of jpegs from over the years and set them to randomly display as the background image on the 10” netbook, changing every 3 minutes.

On the top of the screen I have ObjectDock showing the current weather, future weather forecasts, a clock, and a calender.

It is nice to see old pics pop up and bring back memories. I look at the screen every time I am leaving my house to check the weather quickly. So far it’s been really “nifty”.

I have also decided to take next Monday as a day of silence and a chance to practice my listening abilities.

I got the idea after watching: http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/john_francis_walks_the_earth.html   - I def suggest giving it a watch

I made a facebook event and I hope to get at least one other person to join in on the experiment.

I have been working on my thesis experiment a lot lately. I hope to have it up and running next week.  Making progress everyday is nice.

I got rejected for a credit card I applied for. First time for everything I guess.

I like my bike, my computer, and having two kitties. Two kitties is way better than one! :)
